Royal Ruckus

A Rolls-Royce limousine carrying Britain's Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, was attacked and 12 police officers were injured in London late Thursday amid violent student protests.

A rear window was smashed and the vehicle was splattered with paint as up to 20 demonstrators lunged at the vehicle, carrying the couple to a theater in the West End.

Clarence House said the couple were "unharmed" and they arrived on time at the London Palladium for the Royal Variety Performance, although the Duchess of Cornwall appeared shaken by the ordeal.

Reports said the vehicle was attacked with fists, kicks and bottles, with protesters chanting "Off with their heads!" and "Tory scum."

Clashes escalated among thousands of students gathered in parts of the capital Thursday evening after MPs controversially voted to increase UK college fees from £3,290 ($5,200) to £9,000 ($14,000) per year -- a vote that saw splits within the ruling Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition. Good enough for those parasites!

If they paid their taxes and stopped bleeding the country dry there would be no need to steal more and more money from ordinary people.

They knew full well what was going on with the students, and now they know how people feel about them!

...hear, hear!

They are still human beings and they do pay taxes. Ironically, it is Prince Charles who supports socialist concerns.

...looks like they get a taste of the medicine.

...coming soon...a tale of morality...where right and wrong have no meaning.

ha ha yes indeed Oberon, what goes around comes around and I feel this is only the beginning for those parasites!

How sad C.J. that you regard useless parasites on society as somehow more human than the vulnerable students who had their futures stolen form them yesterday.

Human beings are human beings and should be treated as such.
We are all equal under the stars. I would treat them in the same manner as I would you, with courtesy.
You seem fixated, unable to understand that I too am against these increased fees and are confusing my desire for politeness and peace as if I were some how culpable of or in league with the government.
I am not.
I do not like the Pope or the Catholic church but they too would receive due courtesty from me even in light of some of the appaling acts they have committed historically.
If you neglect to rememeber that all humans, even war crimminals, should be treated fairly then you have forgotten what it is to be human.
This insiduous but fading class divide is as much perpretrated by those that wish to wear their working class credentials as badges of honour on their foreheads as it is the upper class.
Whether you chose to convenientally overlook the truth that the old British working classes are slowly merging with the middle or not is up to you.
I am a product of that notion, as are most American's, that you can rise out of the pool to climb that awful greasy ladder. I refute all ideas of class as being just another way of holding mankind back from attaining their potential.
We English do not go (very often) into bloody revolution. The monarchy will fade no doubt over time as most monarchies have but I prey we never sucumb to killing them off.
They do not, no matter what you say, have much clout anymore but they do carry the weight of our collective history with them. Let the be. Let them fade but treat them as you would the genuine student protesters with dignity. Show them a superior form of nobility: the noble and kind heart of the common man.

oh dear C.J. yet more spouting of propaganda and clap trap!

I am saying that ALL people should be treated fairly, that a minority do not have the right to steal children's future and I will not be sidetracked from that point by you!

I do not subscribe to the "class system" that you constantly refer to.

However if you are referring to socio economic groupings then I can assure you that the middle grouping is descending downwards, and more so now with these changes in the student fees, the poor are getting poorer as their benefits and minimum wage are frozen or reduced, although inflation is rising again.

This is the same in America, with 10% (official figure, although the unofficial figure is 20%)unemployment.

The ladder has been taken away, the greedy bankers have stolen most of the money and, it seems want the rest! There is no way up the "greasy pole" for anyone ~ there probably never has been a very few get through as an "example" that we can all be rich, but that is not the case.

I feel you are sadly deluded as to just how much "clout" the "royal family" actually has, they own and influence much more than you realise, however, in the insidious way that seems prevalent now, where lies are truth and false flags rule the day, they do not show their power.

I love this

"Show them a superior form of nobility: the noble and kind heart of the common man."

However I fear it is the noble and kind heart of the common man refusing to believe that some people are evil, are not noble, have wicked black hearts and are ruling the world ! that has gotten into this fine mess Stanley!

......in any event it now appears that, the police, upset about the cuts they are having to face choreographed this photo opportunity to bring pressure to bear on the government !

(because remember the bankers stole all the money aided and abetted by their friends the politicians)

we clearly need to discuss "violence" as I do not believe that damage to a state owned car, (one that is paid for and maintained by the tax payer) constitutes anything like the violence committed towards the lives of the students and their families.

It is all too easy for hypocrites to claim the high moral ground because they did not smash a window or throw paint, but the devastation they create in the lives of a nation is profound.

It really is odd as we both are on the same side. My youngest daughter, Tweezil, is unable to attend uni because the fees are too high.
I too want those ludicrous new fees done away with but not at the cost of such violence.
And I think the police are equally cuppable and should be taken to task over it after all we pay them to protect us not club us when ever they feel the need but then again they too, as individuals, are frail, flawed people. Still no excuse and I hope, whoever or how many, are brought to justice. breaking students heads with trunchens is wrong.
Sorry.

Mother Sharon Damnable said...

yep I hope the criminal bankers and politicians will be bought to justice too.

There was not "such violence" There is probably more violence every Saturday night in every town, not reported by the press as a propaganda exercise tho.......

43 students hurt

16 police officers hurt (but that is including the one that fell of his horse because he didn't have his saddle buckled up properly!)

one publicly owned roller splashed with paint !

I wonder how many people are being hurt on the streets of London tonight?
